Danielle holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biological Sciences from Murdoch University (1991) and a PhD examining the impact and control of feral cats in Shark Bay (2000). She began her career in the mining sector as an Environmental Consultant before joining the Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration (DMPE) in 2002.

With more than 20 years of regulatory and environmental experience, Danielle has played a significant role in overseeing mining activities across Western Australia’s Mid-West, Pilbara, and Kimberley regions.
She has led multidisciplinary teams responsible for assessing exploration and mining proposals, evaluating mine closure plans, and conducting environmental compliance inspections under the Mining Act 1978.

Danielle currently serves as General Manager – Mine Closure & Environmental Services, where she provides strategic leadership across mine closure policy, regulatory assessment, and environmental service delivery. Her role focuses on strengthening closure outcomes, advancing technical guidance, and ensuring consistent, risk-based regulatory practices across the sector.

Throughout her career, Danielle has contributed to the development of regulatory frameworks and guidance, built and led high-performing teams, and represented her department at local, national, and international forums.
She is widely recognised for her expertise in mine rehabilitation and closure, with a strong focus on delivering practical, future-ready outcomes for industry and government.
