Dr Jimmy Seow

Dr Jimmy Seow, Director at  at Environ WA, is a leading Australian expert in PFAS management with over 30 years’ experience across government, industry, and research, including extensive work in the mining and oil & gas sectors.

 

His deep technical knowledge spans PFAS contamination in soil, groundwater, and surface water, firefighting foam transition, and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) response.

Dr Seow previously served as the founding environmental officer at the WA Department of Mines, where he assessed and approved environmental impact assessments and oil spill contingency plans for offshore petroleum operations.

 

He has conducted environmental audits and PFAS risk assessments for mine sites and industrial facilities, advised on the use of fluorine-free firefighting foams in mining environments, and contributed to marine PFAS policy reviews for regulators such as AMSA.

A published researcher and international speaker, Dr Seow has played a key role in shaping Australia’s PFAS policy frameworks and is a member of the US-based Green Science Policy Institute's PFAS expert panel. His current work includes supporting major remediation projects and advising on best practice for PFAS compliance, treatment, and regulatory preparedness in line with NEMP Version 3 (2025).

At the conference, Dr Seow will present “PFAS Forechemical – The Road Ahead”, sharing key considerations for mining and industrial sites impacted by PFAS, updates on national and international regulatory trends, and practical strategies for future compliance and remediation.
